How To Get Famous in 30 Seconds
Review by: Janie Loberg
Summary: This article is basically talking about how videos from 30 second to a minute long are getting famous by turning “viral”. This means that the video is passed on the internet by emailing it to others, re-posting it, or people viewing the video till it becomes popular. Many viral videos become famous after there has been so many views and people talk about them. Also, the author makes it clear that viral videos are not always a good thing. Many videos have become viral that are bad like a cop shooting himself with a pistol or a kid doing something odd then everyone knows about it. Then the kid will be embarrassed about it. The author gives these examples to clarify that some viral videos can also be a bad thing. But also many videos also don’t even become viral.
Response: After reading this article many points the author made, made me think about some of the videos posted. Something that surprised me was the point that all viral videos are not good. That some videos can become viral for bad reasons. I never thought about that until I read this article. I definalty want to know more about this topic.
Usefulness: This article wants me to keep researching about viral videos because I am so interested in it. The points the author makes in the article are very clear and relevant to what I am researching. This text has many good examples of viral videos for any point I am trying to make in my paper. It will be good to relate back to this article to find my examples.

To Skype or not to Skype?
Review by: Alejandra Murillo

Summary: In this article that I found in our csuchico online library, I read about how there are people who are for Skype and others who are agianst it. It states that Skype has been around for about six years and how it is being used internationally and publically. For example, on television in such shows like Oprah and many more, Skype is used. Many people seem to be frustrated with the usage of Skype on tv shows because they rather have the "real thing". It also clearly talks about how authors have easier access to acquiring information through skype, such as visiting bookstores, schools and events with no cost. There are benefits and dissadvantages when it comes to using Skype to gather information, your not there in the actual place feeling and absorbing all the information; on the other hand its quicker, more affordable and easy.
Response: I believe that Skype is actually a magnificent source of technology, that makes our world easier and affordable. It benefits many communities, and in this case to many authors who are using this type of source to obtain information. I can also relate to how some people may believe that face-to-face conversations are better, but when that option is not there, what other better way thatn actually being able to coversate and see them through a screen? I think its an amazing creation. For example, in the article it mentions a publisher and maneger of Joseph-Beth Group by the name of Michael Link gave his speech to over 300 people over the use of Skype; he did groups of 75 people one at a time. This demonstrates how communication has evolved quicker because of Skype.
Usefulness: This article was helpful in the matter that it gave me information that discussed about two different points of views that people have towards Skype. Some people would rather not use it in national tv, and others benefit greatly from it. I think that this article was easy to understand and gave me information that i can work with for my further report.

Benefits of Skype Technology
Review by: Alejandra Murillo

Summary: In this article it talked about some important benefits that Skype has for society. For example, long distance relationships, being able to talk to far away loved ones. It also states how Skype is completely free and all you need is a good broadband connection and your set. Skype is successfully being used in the business world. Also, Skype is now available on cell phones, making it easier to receive messages from your mom or girlfriend/boyfriend.
Response: I personally think that Skype has wonderful benefits such discussed in the article. It is a wonderful and affordable way to talk to family or friends who are miles away from you. You get the sense that they are closer. I think it is awesome how technology can evolve our social lives and make things much more flexible. It is not complicated to obtain Skype, just a couple of things required a simple download and you’re set. I think it is interesting how this article stated how Skype has contributed to maintaining long distance relationships; I question if this is true? I do believe that family members can stay connected through Skype and not have to worry about a statement bill arriving.
Helpfulness: This article has given me more sense of perception of how Skype is working in our world. An understanding of how it is keeping loved ones connected. I still have questions and further research to do on how Skype is really impacting our social lives. I am really curious to gather information and do surveys of what people think of Skype contributing to long distance relationships. Overall this article was helpful and clear.

5 Things you should know bout chatroulette.com
Summary-
This article had some interesting and super ridiculous facts about chat roulette that I didn't know before I read it. Did you know that a seventeen-year-old Russian programmer named Andrey Turnovskiy, who started it for him and his friends to chat on, created chat roulette? I never knew that you get blocked for 10 minutes if you use the term "ASL" in the text chat part (as in age/sex/and location that was used by gay men in the aol chartrooms of the 90s). Saying, "fuck" is fine though. You can get blocked for posting pornographic images. “Chat roulette does not tolerate broadcasting obscene, offending, pornographic material and we will have to block users who violate these rules from using our service” these are the terms of use of the site- and at least 50% of users certainly haven’t read these. French Connection the clothing brand has got into Chat roulette, for advertising purposes. They’re offering 250 FCUK vouchers for any guy who gets a date through the site. How do you prove you got a date through the site? I don’t know. Presumably they do Web academics predict that the penises will go and be replaced by celebrities: “After Chat Roulette users become more acquainted with the system (i.e., do not browse solely to explore), we predict a decrease in explicit content, an increase in the consolidation of content genres, and an increase in the formation of celebrity figures.” say the web ecology team, an interdisciplinary research group based in Boston, USA.
Response-
I just can't believe that a seventeen-year-old kid invented this site. I found everything about this article really interesting and just so funny. It just doesn't seem right to be able to masturbate into the camera but it's not okay to post pornographic images. Makes no sense to me that there are so many inappropriate things going on. I just can't even comprehend why there’s not even a log in or any kind of security to keep kids from seeing nasty things.
Usefulness-
I believe this article was useful and that it’s always good to learn things about where things came from. I learned some new things for my research and it helps me to stay interested in furthering my inquiry.

Youtube is a very popular site that contains short public or private sharing videos. It is to be known one of the fastest growing web site that compares to other great sites such as Goolge, Amazon, Myspace and Yahoo. More than 25 quadrillion bytes (petabytes) of videos are being watched each month. That is how popular youtube is just by having people putting in videos of something cool or something really dumb that makes people laugh or something to entertain them. About 280,000,000 people go on youtube everyday and about 100,000,000 videos are being watch as we speak. I personally thought that this article that I have just read was very interesting because I had no clue that a lot of people are actually on youtube everyday. What I would want to learn more about Youtube is that does the videos that people post on Youtube affects them when people comment on their videos. I would want to know more about why people would want to choose watching videos from Youtube than any other web sites. http://www.diigo.com/user/richardthao?domain=www.answers.com ----

Skype Becomes the Largest Provider of Cross-border Communications in the World__
Review by: Alejandra Murillo
Summary: This article discusses how Skype has become one of the largest usages of communication across the world. It also implies that Skype is being used more now than the actual telephone. Skype’s annuals rate have soared to the sky, as in the other hand telephone companies are decreasing rapidly. The article also states how the recession is not being resembled in the usage of Skype; people are actually using Skype for their convenience when it comes to the economy.
Response: In the article it says, “. In the article it says”…1 a recent company journal report which showed that on the 19th January 2010 the service experienced an all-time record number of concurrent logged on users with over 22 and a quarter million clients signed in to Skype at the same time. 1This record comes only shortly after the previous record of 21.5 million concurrent users was logged the previous Monday.” //This number impressed me; people are using Skype everyday more and more. I can also relate to how people are using Skype more than actual phone calls. It is way cheaper and the technology is wonderful. You can actually see the person you are talking with; they feel closer to you than over the phone.
Usefulness: I would like to know how Skype has transformed people’s lives. This article informed me how Skype is raising day by day and how different people are becoming part of the community of Skype. I would also like to find out what different types of societies are engaging on Skype.
